AVOID SCAMS & PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION!

ATTENTION DEBIT CARD HOLDERS!  Please be aware of new e-mail based scams that look like they are from Visa customer service.  VISA WILL NEVER REQUEST PERSONAL INFORMATION, such as account details or card information, OVER THE TELEPHONE OR THROUGH E-MAILS!  Even if they threaten to close your card, do not provide any information via e-mail or telephone, UNLESS  you have initiated the contact.

HOWEVER, please note that sometimes Shazam's Fraud Monitoring service WILL contact you on behalf of Farmers & Merchants State Bank.  They will only use the telephone numbers you have provided to us to contact you.  If they detect potential fraud on your card (for example, the card is being used in another country, the card is being used over and over in a short period of time, etc.), they will call you to verify that the tranactions are yours.  They will not ask you to verify your card number--they WILL ask you to verify your zip code.  They will not ask you for any other personal information and if you tell them you did not authorize the transactions they are calling about, they will close your card for you.

 NEW FDIC INSURANCE INFORMATION! Farmers & Merchants State Bank is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2009, all non-interest bearing transaction accounts (including our NOW checking accounts) are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
